Carbon Footprinting is an attempt to measure and illustrate the total amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases emitted by a system or accumulated over the entire lifecycle of a product or service. Carbon Footprinting is only one part of a life cycle analysis process because the life cycle approach seeks to measure various impacts on the environment and not just Greenhouse Gasses. Calculations based on World Resources Institute’s Greenhouse Accounting principles allow us to measure our impact on the environment and further allow us to map out strategies that offset that footprint.
