GRI Standards Training Africa

Nairobi, Kenya

The GRI Guidelines have been restructured into a set of modular, interrelated GRI Reporting Standards. Most changes focus on format and presentation with the main content, concepts, and disclosures from GRI G4 carrying through the GRI Standards.

The GRI Standards have no new topics added; if a company has already reported in accordance with GRI G4 in the past, they are encouraged to transition to the new GRI Standards. There will be 3 “universal” standards applicable to all reporters, and 33 topic-specific Standards based on the GRI G4 Aspects. Organizations will select only the topic-specific Standards that are applicable, based on material topics.

New GRI Standards Language: Aspect changes to Topic; General Standard Disclosures changes to General Disclosure; Indicator changes to Disclosure; DMA changes to Management Approach.

GRI Certified: Participants will go through a GRI G4 primer followed by the GRI Transition to Standards. You will learn how to use the new GRI Standards—the latest version of the GRI guidelines—to manage the reporting process, assess an organization’s significant impacts, select report topics and performance measures, and follow best practices for developing top-quality sustainability reports. Following the GRI Training, participants will walk away with a better understanding of how GRI relates to their specific organization, how it applies to daily business scenarios and how it can help with strategic planning.

CDP Certified: The CDP questionnaires and scoring methodology change on an annual basis. It’s not a static program or process; it is very evolutionary. Through our training programs, we want to help participants understand how CDP relates to their organizations, how to make the information digestible, and how to apply it to every day scenarios and business contexts.

The 3-day training is taught by working sustainability reporting professionals with in-depth knowledge of the GRI, CDP and SASB Reporting Frameworks and decades of experience managing enterprise-level reporting projects across a variety of sectors. A blend of instruction, individual and group exercises, guest speakers and real-world examples keeps the course engaging and lively.

Upon training completion, participants receive their globally recognized GRI Standards Certificate of completion directly from the Global Reporting Initiative, respectively the CDP Certificate of completion.

  • ISOS Group makes it its responsibility to calculate the carbon footprint of our in-person certified trainings. We encourage participants to reduce the carbon footprint of their travel and choose sustainable lodging options, as possible.

  • Registered participants who are unable to attend can postpone their attendance to a later event date or transfer placement to another person. Complete cancellations will have to be made at least 2 weeks prior to the event date in order to receive partial payment. Partial entails full payment minus $150 for processing fees and material costs. Travel expenses will not be reimbursed. If course collaborators find it necessary to cancel or postpone the event, then all registration fees will be exchanged for participation at future scheduled events.
